Noticed that the product was changed slightly from the ones I purchased a couple of years ago.  The thumb section is now stitched closed (the previous model had a Velcro  adjustment to cater for different thumb sizes). Although the product is very well-suited for its purpose, I find the enclosed thumb is not quite as comfortable on my arthritic hand as the previous adjustable thumb band.

For healing and prevention of Mommy's thumb October 13, 2015

My wife suffered from Mommy's thumb (also known as de Quervain disease, de Quervain's tenosynovitis, de Quervain's stenosing tenosynovitis) a few months after our daughter was born. Amongst the 4 options that our doctor prescribed, one was this thumb splint. Though it hasnt cured the problem, along with anti-inflamatory medication this splint did a great job of relieving the pain and preventing further stress and damange to her thumb tendons. Also, partly because of this splint, she avoided having to undergo a surgery. I would highly recommend this splint to those who suffer from de Quervain disease, of course, subject to medical advice; Seek medical advice without any delay (to avoid surgery), and if advised use this splint as soon as and as long as possible.
