ACL Injuries in Australia [Infographic]

ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) injuries are reasonably common in sport. The ACL is one of the major stabilising ligaments in the knee. The ligament runs from the femur (thigh bone) to the tibia (shin bone). ACL injuries are often caused through sudden direct blows to the knee (e.g. a tackle) or sudden twisting movements. The injury manifests as a feeling of the knee popping out of the joint and the joint itself swells within a couple of hours of injury.
